MSG Ergonomic Bike Fitting Service
Experienced cyclists know that tiny niggles can turn into major discomfort - or even chronic injury - given time and enough miles in the saddle.
The precise, ergonomic bike fitting service offered at MSG Bikes will iron out the misalignments that many cyclists feel they have to live with. This will result in the most comfortable riding experience you will ever have – a level of comfort you will be able to sustain for thousands of injury-free miles.
There are two stages to each MSG Bikes fitting: one before your custom bike has been built, and the second once it’s been delivered. This same service can also be offered on a new production bike or even your current bike.
Stage 1: Measurement
At the first session, we take numerous physical measurements and discuss at length what sort of riding you intend to do.
We will also talk about your level of fitness and any physical problems you may have, before deciding on the right frame type for you.
Next, we will use your physical measurements to set up our computer aided jig bike for you to test ride in the shop. We will carefully study your riding technique and position and then make any fine adjustments necessary.
Once we have agreed the frame geometry, we will advise and help you choose the correct components and ergonomic products – pedals, handlebars, bar ends, grips, stem, saddle, shoe insoles, and so on.
But at MSG Bikes, that’s just the starting point....
Stage 2: Ergonomic Fitting
The second session is where our years of experience really come into play. We invite you back to the shop, either with your existing bike or the new one that has just been built using your detailed measurements and the ergonomic products we specified at the first fitting.
Your bike will be set up in a dynamic test jig and, using a variety of tools and measuring equipment, we’ll make adjustments based on observations made while you are actually riding. We will check the angles of your body, your legs and your feet, your knee alignment, the stress on your back, shoulders, arms and hands, the alignment of your wrists and many other key indicators.
We then make any final adjustments to the bike and ergonomic products to suit your individual needs, based on the results of the previous measurements and observations.
Ergonomic bike fitting is for all riders - you don’t have to be an expert cyclist to benefit. All we need from you is information and some time. We will guide you through the whole process and explain what we are doing at every stage.
It takes a while – a total of four or five hours over the two fittings, so you will need to make an appointment with Alasdair for a fitting – but it’s time well spent. When you are still feeling comfortable and injury-free thousands of miles later, we know you’ll agree it was worth it.
You can rest assured that your new or existing bike will fit you and you’re riding style like a glove.
Cost
The charge for the full ergonomic fitting service as described above is £500. 50% is payable after Stage 1 with the balance paid at the end of Stage 2.
