"Anyway, I'm glad you dropped me an email because we both wanted to say thank you for your excellent service in providing the Santos Tandem. The careful attention to detail in fitting us to the bike ensured we had a good ride home although the 20-35MPH winds that were in our face all the way, took its toll and we took much longer than we would have liked. Most telling was Bev's 'sit bones'. I don't think she'd ever got to 'use' them in quite this way before and by the time we made the other end, she was tender, to say the least. For me the ride was good, no sore spots and the normal tingling hands and numbness in the groin area that I can get after a couple of hours, were not mine that day - credit to the selection and adjustment of all of the relevant bike parts then? The Rohloff experience was good and will get better as it and I adjust to each other I'm sure. Although it's characteristics are a little quirky, already I would not go back to the derailleur for a tandem. The handling of the tandem was so good too - none of the frame flex that was so charateristic of my old Dawes - such a treat! We've been out every day this week as a short trip to Holland is planned in September, so we need to get fitter. Finally, my friend's photos were circulated to a few cycling chums of his, and he got more than one comment on how well the tandem fitted us both despite the most obvious difference in our sizes. Again, all credit to your expertise in custom fitting.
