Bernds Folding Tandems

The Bernds folding tandem is simple and safe to ride, even at high speeds you always have the feeling of being in control. This has been achieved by designing the frame geometry for tandem riding on robust, easy-running 20-inch wheels with a sprung folding swingarm on a solid frame.  

The advantages of the Bernds folding tandem over a conventional tandem:-

• It is compact and foldable
  • With a shortened wheel base the tandem is easy to ride round tight corners in urban traffic.
  • It's simple folding mechanism, makes it easy to fit inside a typical family saloon car. So there is no need for a roof or rear tandem carrier.
• Everyone can ride the Bernds folding tandem
  • They are the ideal family tandem as it will suit any riders between 1.40 and 2.10 m tall without any special adaptations.
  • The rear handlebars and the front riders saddle are independently adjustable.
  • The handlebars, stems and seatpost are a standard size.
  • They offer a great number of luggage attachments, and are particularly suited to pulling trailers.
  • You can also have them electrically assisted.
• Extra safe and extra light
  • The unusually wide and stable tyres provide more contact with the road surface to ensure efficient braking and comfort.
  • All of the Bernds tandems come with high quality brakes; with the hydraulic disc brakes ensuring even shorter braking distances even in the wet.
  • The maximum payload is 260kg! You may never use all of this payload, but you will notice the difference.
  • The Bernds folding tandem is extra light - from 18 kg! 

The Bernds Low Step tandem can be folded down extra small, with the addition of an extra folding bracket. The low step through makes it very easy to get on and off.
